What is APSEA?
APSEA (Asian Pacific State Employees Association) is a non-profit and non-political organization that provides numerous services to its membership and contributes to the betterment of the larger Asian/Pacific community. Our Mission is to ensure equal opportunity and to advance the careers of Asian/Pacific state employees. 

What does APSEA promote?
APSEA advocates for members interests and works with the community to promote career opportunities, professionalism, cultural pride, self-esteem and citizenship. APSEA also promotes culture awareness within the community and supports young adults in career and school advancements. Example: Scholarship Awards, Annual Statewide Training Conferences, Community Forums, and the Sacramento Career Fair/Pacific Rim Street Festival. 

How do I benefit from APSEA?
As an APSEA member, you have a built in network of members that can assist you with your skill and career development. You will be able to consult with members facing adverse action or other employment problems. APSEA networks with community, academic, and business groups affiliated with our organization. A quarterly newsletter updates members on current events and upcoming activities between APSEA and the community.

What are some opportunities?
Become an officer in one of the chapters (Sacramento, Southern California, Bay Area or the Central Valley chapters) and sharpen your leadership skills. By chairing or joining any one of the following committees: the Scholarship Awards/Installation of Officers dinner, Statewide Training Conferences, the Pacific Rim Street Fest, the Holiday mixer, you will have an opportunity to enhance your skills and meet a lot of nice people! Learn about being a nonprofit organization and fundraising. Get involved in community organizations by attending functions sponsored by the many Asian community organizations. Network with fellow members and professionals in your field or in a field you would like to enter.  

How large is APSEA?
We encourage you to join a growing organization that currently has over 500 members throughout the state of California. APSEA has chapters in Sacramento, the Bay Area, the Central Valley, and Southern California. 

Who supports our causes?
APSEA members, community leaders, the community at large and organizations such as Japanese American Citizen League (JACL), Chinese American Citizen League (CACS), Asian Bar Association, and the Council of Asian Pacific Islander Together for Advocacy and Leadership (CAPITAL), all are supportive of APSEA causes.  

Is there a membership fee?
Fees are only $5 a month ($60 a year). Students and Retirees are only $2.50 a month ($30 a year). Payroll deduction is encouraged for state employees.

Can anyone join APSEA?
Yes, individuals from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to join APSEA and support our mission and goals. You do not have to be a State employee to join.
